“Andy Burnham Makes History as First UK Prime Minister on Celebrity Gogglebox for Stand Up ” — what this page in the network covers. Andy Burnham is set to become the first sitting UK Prime Minister to appear on Channel 4’s Celebrity Gogglebox, joining the special Stand Up To Cancer episode airing tomorrow at 9.05pm. He will be filmed from 10 Downing Street alongside Steve Rotheram, the Mayor of Liverpool and a long-time friend, marking a rare crossover between high-level politics and prime-time entertainment.
The appearance is significant not only for its novelty but also for its charitable purpose: Stand Up To Cancer is a major fundraising initiative, and Burnham’s participation is expected to draw a wider audience to the cause. By stepping onto the famous sofa, Burnham humanises the premiership, offering viewers a glimpse of his off-duty reactions to the week’s television, a format that has previously featured only members of the public and celebrities.
