This page features a BBC Newscast episode discussing the current tensions involving the US, Israel, and Iran, particularly focusing on recent attacks on key gas facilities. President Trump has issued a stern warning that the US would respond by heavily damaging Iran's largest gas field if Iran continues its attacks on Qatar. The conflict escalated after Iran bombed Qatar's Ras Laffan energy complex in retaliation for Israel's strike on Iran's South Pars Gas Field, causing a significant surge in global gas prices.
The discussion includes insights from BBC's chief international correspondent Lyse Doucet and deputy economics editor Dharshini David, who analyze the repercussions of these events on the ongoing conflict and the worldwide energy market. The conversation explores the alignment between the US and Israel in this context and the broader implications for international relations and economic stability.
