Firefighters have managed to control two significant wildfires that recently endangered the historic Fontainebleau forest near Paris. Although the immediate threat to the forest has diminished, authorities have launched a criminal inquiry to determine the fires' origins. Five people have been detained on suspicion of deliberately setting the fires, a situation that has alarmed the local community. Among those arrested is a volunteer firefighter, complicating the investigation further.
Prosecutors revealed that one suspect confessed to unintentionally igniting a fire by carelessly discarding a cigarette.
