Here is what the page “Black Hole Research Center: Inside the Concept Lab Treating Its Black Hole Like a Skylight” contains. Architecture studio Design Unit has unveiled a concept for a Black Hole Research Center that treats a black hole as a central skylight. The proposal, which was a winner in the 2023 Architecture MasterPrize, places a spherical void at the heart of a subterranean laboratory. Researchers would observe the black hole from circular galleries, using its gravitational lensing to study distant stars and galaxies.
The design reimagines a black hole not as a destructive force but as a source of illumination and discovery. By integrating the phenomenon into the building's core, the concept lab aims to make the invisible visible, turning a cosmic mystery into an architectural centerpiece. The project suggests that even the most extreme objects in the universe can inspire spaces for human inquiry and wonder.
