Content overview: “Brian David Gilbert Read Every Halo Novel and Became the Master Chief of Loneliness”. Brian David Gilbert, known for his deep-dive video series Unraveled, embarked on an epic quest starting July 30, 2019: to read every single Halo novel. Now, with Halo Infinite already released, he has finally finished the entire literary saga—but the achievement comes with an unexpected cost. Gilbert reports that no one wants to talk to him about Halo anymore, having exhausted his social circle with his exhaustive knowledge of the franchise’s expanded universe.
The journey, which spanned dozens of books by multiple authors, turned him into a real-world Master Chief—isolated by his own expertise. While Halo Infinite brings new players into the fight, Gilbert’s deep lore dive left him standing alone, a cautionary tale about the fine line between fandom and obsession.
