Content overview: “Bristol Bears Stunned by Stormers in Champions Cup Opener as Zas and Roche Shine”. Bristol Bears began their Investec Champions Cup campaign with a disappointing defeat, falling to South African side Stormers in a high-scoring encounter. The visitors from Cape Town dominated proceedings, with wing Leolin Zas and centre Jonathan Roche each crossing for two tries, showcasing the clinical finishing that has made them a force in the United Rugby Championship. Bristol, playing at Ashton Gate, struggled to contain the Stormers' attacking flair and now face an uphill battle in Pool 1, which also includes French giants Toulon and Irish province Connacht.
The result leaves the West Country club needing wins in their remaining fixtures to keep knockout-stage hopes alive. With head coach Pat Lam under pressure to deliver European success, the Bears must quickly regroup before their next match.
