Content overview: “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Story Recap: Key Characters, Events, and Warzone Connections ”. The rebooted Modern Warfare saga, developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision, reaches its conclusion this month with the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The series, which began in 2019 with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, introduced a grittier, more realistic take on the iconic characters Captain Price, Kyle 'Gaz' Garrick, and Alex, while reimagining the origins of Task Force 141.
The narrative continued in 2022's Modern Warfare II, which saw the formation of Task Force 141 and the betrayal by General Shepherd and Shadow Company, leading to the events of Modern Warfare III in 2023, where the team faced the ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov. Crucially, major story beats were delivered through seasonal cutscenes in the free-to-play battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone, making it essential for players to catch up on those events before diving into MW4.
