Content overview: “Casey Sherman Announces 'Vegas Strong' Book and Film About 2017 Las Vegas Mass Shooting”. Author Casey Sherman, known for 'Boston Strong' which became the film 'Patriots Day' with Mark Wahlberg, is teaming with Midnight Lute Productions to develop 'Vegas Strong,' a book and feature film about the October 1, 2017 Route 91 Harvest festival shooting in Las Vegas. The attack, which killed 60 people and injured hundreds more, remains the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S.
Sherman will co-write the book and serve as a producer on the film, which aims to focus on the stories of survivors, first responders, and the community's resilience rather than the shooter. The project adds to a growing list of true-story adaptations from Sherman, who also wrote 'The Finest Hours' and 'Hunting Whitey.' With the 10th anniversary of the tragedy approaching, 'Vegas Strong' seeks to honor the victims and examine the long-term impact on Las Vegas and the nation's ongoing debate over gun violence.
