During a recent event attended by US President Donald Trump, a security breach occurred when a gunman approached dangerously close to the President. Although the Secret Service quickly ensured the President's safety by escorting him away, the incident has raised significant concerns about the effectiveness of current security protocols and how the attacker was able to get so near. This breach has sparked intense scrutiny over protective measures for high-profile figures.
The incident also casts a shadow over an upcoming diplomatic visit by the King of the United States scheduled for the following week. To explore these concerns, former British ambassador Lord Kim Darroch joined the discussion alongside Laura and Paddy in the studio. Additionally, Paddy spoke with BBC North America correspondent Gary O'Donoghue to offer detailed analysis on the event's implications for national security and international diplomacy.
