A 41-square-meter apartment in Milan was reimagined by architects Andrea Del Pedro Pera and Ylenia Rose Testore of ATOMAA to accommodate their growing family. The original space, characterized by dark interiors and rigid partitions, was transformed into a light-filled, open environment through strategic layout changes. By removing non-load-bearing walls and integrating multi-functional zones, the couple created a flexible living area that supports daily life for three while maintaining a sense of spaciousness.
The design emphasizes connectivity between spaces and maximizes natural light through thoughtful placement of windows and reflective surfaces. Materials and finishes were chosen to enhance visual openness and durability. Every element serves a purpose, from built-in storage to modular furniture, ensuring efficient use of limited square footage. This project illustrates how intelligent design can elevate small urban dwellings into functional, comfortable homes suitable for modern family life.
