Content overview: “Disney Licenses Major Titles to Netflix: Ice Age, Percy Jackson, Will Trent, and More”. The agreement includes all five 'Ice Age' movies, the Disney+ series 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians,' the drama 'Will Trent,' the classic series 'Felicity,' and the upcoming animated film 'Elio.' This move highlights Disney's strategy to monetize its library and promote its franchises through Netflix's massive reach, even as the two compete for streaming viewers. For Netflix, the deal adds high-profile family and fan-favorite content to its catalog, bolstering its appeal. The partnership underscores a pragmatic shift in the streaming wars, where rivals increasingly leverage each other's platforms for financial and promotional gain.
As both companies navigate a maturing market, such cross-licensing deals may become more common, benefiting consumers with broader access to beloved titles.
