This week’s edition of 'This Week with George Stephanopoulos' examines the growing tension between energy policy and global conflict. Energy Secretary Chris Wright appears in a rare interview to address how escalating gas prices are affecting American households amid renewed hostilities between the U.S. and Iran. Senator Mark Warner responds directly to statements made by President Trump in his recent campaign speech, highlighting divisions within the political landscape. The program also covers U.S. military actions against Iranian targets, as reported by Rachel Scott, offering context on the strategic decisions behind the strikes.
The broadcast takes a different turn when Jonathan Karl speaks with comedian Bill Maher, who recently received the 2026 Mark Twain Prize. Their conversation shifts focus to cultural commentary and public discourse, providing contrast to the day’s security-focused segments. The episode blends hard news with thoughtful analysis, reflecting current challenges in both domestic policy and international relations.
