Content overview: “Epic Games Launcher Comes to Linux as Fortnite Prepares for Debut”. Epic Games is expanding its reach to Linux users by releasing its Epic Games Launcher in preview today, marking the company's first official support for the open-source operating system. While Fortnite is not yet available on Linux, Epic has confirmed its intention to bring the popular battle royale title to the platform in the future. This move signals a significant shift in Epic's strategy, as Linux has historically been underserved by major game publishers due to challenges with anti-cheat software and market share concerns.
By investing in Linux support, Epic is acknowledging the growing demand from the Linux gaming community and the broader push for cross-platform compatibility. The launcher's arrival on Linux could pave the way for other Epic titles and encourage more developers to consider Linux as a viable gaming platform.
