Ex-A16Z Partner Launches New Industrial-Focused VC Firm

Michelle Volz, a former partner at Andreessen Horowitz’s American Dynamism team, has launched a new venture capital firm focused on early-stage industrial technology startups. The firm targets companies working to solve critical challenges within the U.S. industrial sector, including inefficiencies, high costs, and gaps in supply chain infrastructure. Volz brings experience from her time at A16Z, where she specialized in long-term technological transformation and economic growth.

She joined Caroline Hyde and Ed Ludlow for a discussion on Bloomberg Tech, where she outlined the firm’s mission to strengthen foundational industries through strategic investments. The new fund aims to support innovative solutions that improve productivity and resilience across manufacturing, logistics, and energy systems. By focusing on underrepresented sectors, the firm seeks to address structural weaknesses in the national industrial base.
