Global News Wrap: Newsom Faces DOJ Probe, B-52 Crash, and UK Social Media Bans

California Governor Gavin Newsom has accused the U.S. Justice Department of targeting him and his spouse through a politically motivated investigation, raising concerns about the use of federal law enforcement for partisan purposes. The allegations have intensified discussions around the independence of judicial institutions and their role in political affairs. Meanwhile, a B-52 Stratofortress aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff in California’s Mojave Desert, prompting an immediate military assessment of the incident. Authorities are investigating the cause, with no immediate details on casualties or damage. In the United Kingdom, a new government policy has been introduced banning social media access for individuals under 16, marking a significant step in digital regulation aimed at protecting youth online. The move reflects growing global scrutiny over tech platforms and their impact on mental health and privacy.
