A third British individual is believed to have contracted hantavirus amid an outbreak aboard the cruise ship MV Hondius. This latest case has been identified on Tristan da Cunha, a remote island in the Atlantic where the ship made a stop in mid-April. The situation is escalating as the vessel continues to travel between various international ports, raising concerns among health officials about controlling the spread of the virus.
Previously, two other British passengers were diagnosed with hantavirus; one remains in intensive care in South Africa, while the other is in stable condition in the Netherlands. In total, five cases have been confirmed linked to the cruise, with one passenger having died. Health authorities from multiple countries are coordinating efforts to track and manage the passengers who were on the MV Hondius during the outbreak.
