“Hulu’s 3-Part Sci-Fi Thriller Turns a Billion-Dollar Franchise Into a Masterpiece” — what this page in the network covers. Marvel's Legion, now streaming on Hulu via FX, redefines the superhero genre by turning a billion-dollar franchise into an intimate, surrealist exploration of mental illness and identity. Created by Noah Hawley, the series stars Dan Stevens as David Haller, a powerful mutant diagnosed with schizophrenia who discovers his voices and visions may be real. The show breaks away from traditional X-Men blockbusters, focusing on psychological depth over spectacle.
With its inventive visuals, nonlinear storytelling, and bold performances from Aubrey Plaza, Rachel Keller, and Jemaine Clement, Legion challenges what comic book adaptations can achieve. It matters because it proves that superhero stories can be artful, complex, and deeply human, appealing to both genre fans and prestige TV audiences.
