French fighter pilots operating in the Middle East have played a key role in intercepting drones and missiles linked to Iran. Originally deployed for counterterrorism missions, their responsibilities shifted significantly following an escalation in regional tensions on February 28. The crew—comprising Commander Quentin, Captain Louis, and Lieutenant Enzo—were tasked with air defense operations during this period. Now returned from active duty, they are sharing their firsthand account for the first time, offering insight into the challenges and coordination involved in defending airspace under pressure.
The pilots described rapid deployment procedures, close collaboration with allied forces, and the high alert status maintained throughout their mission. Their testimony highlights France’s growing involvement in regional security efforts beyond traditional counterterrorism roles. The operation underscored the importance of real-time intelligence, advanced radar systems, and swift decision-making in modern aerial defense. These experiences reflect France’s broader strategic engagement in maintaining stability across the Middle East amid increasing threats.
