The Foreign Press Association has criticized the Israeli military for using an artificially generated image to portray a Lebanese journalist killed in an airstrike as a militant. Ali Shoeib, who worked for the Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Manar TV, died during an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) shared a doctored photo showing Shoeib in a Hezbollah uniform, despite lacking any proof of his involvement as a combatant. The IDF later acknowledged to Fox News that the image was digitally altered.

This incident highlights concerns about misinformation and the manipulation of media in conflict zones. The use of AI-generated images to misrepresent individuals involved in conflict raises ethical questions and the importance of verifying information. The situation underscores the challenges journalists face in war reporting and the potential impact of disinformation on public perception.
