Content overview: “Jac Schaeffer to Develop New ‘Stargate’ Series for Amazon MGM Studios”. Jac Schaeffer, the creator behind Marvel’s acclaimed ‘WandaVision,’ is set to develop a new television series based on the beloved ‘Stargate’ franchise for Amazon MGM Studios, Variety has learned exclusively. The project is part of Schaeffer’s overall deal with Amazon MGM, which was announced earlier this year, and a writers’ room is expected to open in the near future. Schaeffer will work alongside Joby Harold, who is also attached to the project.
This marks a significant new chapter for the ‘Stargate’ universe, which has spawned multiple series and films since the original 1994 movie, and it signals Amazon’s continued investment in high-profile sci-fi properties. For fans of the franchise, Schaeffer’s track record with character-driven, genre-blending storytelling offers a promising new direction, while for Amazon, it’s a strategic move to compete in the premium streaming space.
