“James Gunn Questions Margot Robbie’s Future as Harley Quinn in New DC Universe | Nova Glob” — what this page in the network covers. DC Studios co-head James Gunn has cast doubt on Margot Robbie’s return as Harley Quinn in the new DC Universe. In a recent podcast, The Suicide Squad: Is It Canon?, Gunn answered fan questions about which characters from the 2021 film would carry over into his rebooted continuity. When asked about Robbie, Gunn said, “I don’t know if she wants to play Harley again;
she may be over that.” Robbie first portrayed the fan-favorite antihero in 2016’s Suicide Squad, reprising the role in Birds of Prey (2020) and The Suicide Squad (2021). While Gunn praised her performance, he acknowledged that the decision ultimately rests with the actress. This uncertainty comes as Gunn and co-head Peter Safran prepare to launch their new DC slate, starting with Superman: Legacy in 2025.
