NASA has unveiled a comprehensive strategy for establishing a long-term human presence on the Moon, centered around building a functional lunar base. Agency leaders, including Administrator Jared Isaacman, outlined key objectives focused on creating a sustainable research hub. Technical experts Lori Glaze and Carlos García-Galán provided updates on progress in infrastructure development, life support systems, and energy solutions essential for continuous operations. The initiative emphasizes collaboration across international partners and private industry to ensure mission success.
The briefing detailed a phased approach, highlighting milestones in habitat construction, resource utilization, and surface mobility. Safety measures and operational protocols were also addressed, reinforcing the commitment to crew well-being. With an emphasis on renewable energy and in-situ resource use, the plan aims to reduce dependence on Earth-based supplies. This roadmap sets the foundation for future deep-space missions, positioning the Moon as a critical proving ground for exploration beyond low Earth orbit.
