“Maresca Defends Guéhi After Costly Errors in Manchester City’s First League Loss to Aston ” — what this page in the network covers. Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca says he is not worried about Marc Guéhi’s form despite the defender’s mistakes leading to three goals in two Premier League matches, including in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa. Guéhi failed to control a ball that led to Nicolas Jackson’s opener, then was substituted at half-time after being booked. Last weekend, his errors allowed Ipswich Town to score twice.
Aston Villa’s Jackson scored both goals, earning praise from manager Unai Emery, who called the striker ‘fantastic’. The result ends City’s unbeaten start to the league season and tightens the title race. Maresca’s calm response suggests he will stick with Guéhi, but the defender’s recent performances have raised questions about City’s defensive solidity as they prepare for a crucial run of fixtures.
