A closer look at “Melbourne Islamic leader Samir Mohtadi silent on alleged Flydubai hijacker links in video”, exactly as the source publishes it. Samir Mohtadi, leader of a Melbourne Islamic centre, has released a Facebook video discussing Islamic teachings on the virtues of remaining silent, without directly addressing allegations that the centre is linked to the man accused of attempting to hijack a Flydubai flight. The video comes after UAE Attorney General Dr Hamad Saif al-Shamsi stated that investigators traced the suspect's radicalisation back to his time as a student at RMIT University in Melbourne in 2017.
The 29-year-old suspect, whose name has not been officially released, is accused of attempting to hijack a Flydubai flight from Dubai to an undisclosed destination. The attorney general's comments have raised questions about the role of Australian institutions in the suspect's path to extremism.
