The UK Health Security Agency has reported that the number of confirmed or probable meningitis cases tied to an outbreak in Kent has reached 29. The initial public announcement about the outbreak was made on 13 March, with a local venue, Club Chemistry, being connected to several of the cases. Health officials continue to monitor the situation closely as the case count has grown.
The family of Juliette Kenny, an 18-year-old who passed away during the outbreak, has urged for a vaccine to be offered to teenagers and young adults. According to her father, she died on 14 March, just one day after first showing symptoms. The family's appeal highlights concerns about protecting this age group from the disease.
