Acclaimed horror director Mike Flanagan has officially confirmed his plan for the long-awaited television adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower. In a recent statement, Flanagan revealed that the series will be faithful to the source material and will begin with the first novel in the series, 'The Gunslinger.' This announcement brings clarity to a project that has been in development limbo for years, following the poorly received 2017 film starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey.
Flanagan, known for his successful King adaptations like 'Gerald's Game' and 'Doctor Sleep,' has long expressed his passion for The Dark Tower, often citing it as his dream project. By committing to a chronological adaptation starting with 'The Gunslinger,' Flanagan signals a respectful and comprehensive approach that aims to satisfy devoted fans of the sprawling fantasy-western saga.
