A remarkable rescue took place in northern Venezuela following twin earthquakes that struck on June 24th. A 43-year-old security guard was found alive eight days after the disaster, trapped in the basement of a collapsed shopping center. Despite the surrounding concrete structure giving way, a small cabin area remained intact, providing the man with shelter throughout the ordeal.
Rescue teams showed great determination, working for more than 100 hours under challenging conditions including heavy rain and ongoing aftershocks. They managed to supply the trapped individual with food and water during the operation, enabling his survival until he was finally freed from the rubble. This extraordinary recovery has become a powerful symbol of hope amidst the tragedy.
