“Netflix's New Dungeons & Dragons Series Blends Gothic Horror with High Fantasy Adventure” — what this page in the network covers. Netflix is expanding its fantasy portfolio with a new live-action Dungeons & Dragons series that promises to merge gothic horror with the rollicking adventure of tabletop role-playing. The show, set in the iconic D&D universe, draws comparisons to Critical Role's character-driven storytelling and Castlevania's dark, atmospheric animation—though this series will be live action.
While specific cast and release dates are yet to be announced, the project signals Netflix's continued investment in high-profile genre IP, following the success of its animated Castlevania franchise and the broader resurgence of D&D in pop culture. For fans, the combination of dread-soaked visuals and heroic quests could offer a fresh take on fantasy television, appealing to both hardcore gamers and casual viewers.
