Netflix is bringing Gary Paulsen's beloved young adult survival novel 'Hatchet' to the screen with a new film adaptation. The 1987 Newbery Honor-winning book has sold millions of copies and remains a staple in school curricula, telling the story of 13-year-old Brian Robeson, who must survive alone in the Canadian wilderness after a plane crash with only a hatchet.
This adaptation marks the first major studio film based on the novel, following a 1990 TV movie titled 'A Cry in the Wild.'
