Doordash has introduced a new app called "Tasks" that enables its delivery drivers, known as Dashers, to earn additional income by helping to train artificial intelligence systems. This initiative involves drivers performing activities that assist AI in learning to replicate their delivery tasks. The concept is gaining attention as it raises questions about the implications of involving workers directly in AI development processes.
The app reflects a growing trend of integrating human input into AI training, but it also prompts discussions about the transparency and fairness of such arrangements. Experts like AI strategist Alicia Lyttle have offered insights into the potential benefits and concerns surrounding this approach, highlighting the need for careful consideration of the impact on workers who contribute to AI systems through platforms like Doordash’s Tasks app.
