A new PBS documentary series, 'American Muslims: A History Revealed,' premieres this weekend, offering a detailed look at the enduring presence and contributions of Muslims in the United States. Spanning over 200 years, the six-part series explores the lives of influential individuals and communities whose stories have long been absent from mainstream historical narratives. Through archival footage, personal accounts, and expert insights, the series reveals the depth and diversity of Muslim American experiences across different regions and eras.
Hosted by three prominent journalists, including BBC’s Asma Khalid, the series aims to correct misrepresentations and deepen public understanding of this community's role in shaping American society. By highlighting moments of resilience, innovation, and civic engagement, it presents a multifaceted portrait of faith and identity in the nation. The project underscores the importance of inclusive storytelling in reflecting the true complexity of American history.
