“Nottingham Police Officer Shot in Foot in City Centre, Manhunt Underway” — what this page in the network covers. A Nottinghamshire police officer is in hospital after being shot in the foot in Nottingham city centre in the early hours of Sunday, prompting a major manhunt for two suspects. The officer had approached a man and a woman near Angel Row when he was struck by a bullet, according to police. The suspects fled the scene, and a large cordon remains in place as officers search the area.
Nottinghamshire police described the incident as shocking and said the officer is receiving treatment. The force has not yet released details on the suspects' identities or a possible motive, but the shooting has raised concerns about violence against police in the UK. Angel Row, a busy area near the city's main shopping district, was closed off as forensic teams examined the scene.
