A rescue operation is underway in Laos' Xaysomboun province after five villagers were found alive inside a flooded cave system. The group had been trapped for seven days following severe rains and landslides that sealed the cave’s entrance. Originally consisting of seven people who entered the cave in search of gold and wildlife, two remain unaccounted for. Rescuers are navigating narrow, mud-choked tunnels under extreme conditions, with specialized cave divers working to reach the survivors and locate the missing individuals. Footage from the site shows the challenging terrain and the ongoing efforts by emergency teams.
