Former Vice President Mike Pence has voiced concerns that a potential second term for Donald Trump could shift the Republican Party away from its foundational conservative principles. In a recent interview, he emphasized the rising impact of the populist right, arguing that this movement is steering the former president toward positions that diverge from long-standing party values. His remarks reflect an ongoing debate within the GOP about the direction of its future, highlighting tensions between traditional conservatism and the more populist elements associated with Trump’s political brand.
The interview offers insight into internal divisions shaping the party ahead of the next presidential election. By drawing a clear line between populism and conservative ideology, Pence advocates for a return to core principles he believes should guide Republican policy.
