“Office for Future Designs Dvir: Former School in Stavyshche Transformed into Housing for 4” — what this page in the network covers. Architecture studio Office for Future has revealed plans to convert a former school in Stavyshche, Ukraine, into Dvir, a temporary housing complex for families displaced by the ongoing war. Situated approximately 140 kilometers south of Kyiv, the project will provide shelter for 42 families affected by Russia's invasion. The design wraps around a central courtyard, fostering community and a sense of home for those who have lost theirs.
The adaptive reuse of the school building offers a sustainable and rapid solution to the urgent need for accommodation, as millions of Ukrainians have been forced to flee their homes since the conflict began. By repurposing existing structures, the project demonstrates how architecture can respond quickly to humanitarian crises while creating dignified living spaces.
