Brooklyn-based design studio Out of Line has successfully completed the 'Swoop ADU,' a 750-square-foot accessory dwelling unit attached to a 1988 split-level home in South Orange, New Jersey. The project is distinguished by its 'absent gable' design, a creative use of negative space that serves as an inviting entryway and a striking architectural feature.
By adding two bedrooms and a bathroom, the design expands the home's utility while addressing the aesthetic limitations of traditional suburban structures. The project stands as a notable example of how thoughtful architectural interventions can breathe new life into mid-range suburban homes. The full version stays on the original page, which this listing opens directly.
