Overlook is a distinctive black cabin situated among the Ponderosa pines in McCall, Idaho, designed by architect CJ Pennington, co-founder of Altruist. This project reflects a personal journey deeply tied to the region, serving as both a retreat and a meditation on how memories shape architectural form. The cabin is deliberately designed to engage with its forest surroundings, offering a striking visual contrast while maintaining a strong connection to its environment.
The design embodies a thoughtful interaction between the built structure and the natural landscape, creating a sense of tranquility and timelessness. Overlook stands as an example of architecture that respects and responds to its location, emphasizing a harmonious relationship between human habitation and the land. This project highlights Pennington’s dedication to crafting spaces that resonate with the essence of their setting.
