Content overview: “Payal Kapadia and Anurag Kashyap Join Kavita Gupta’s Cineroost on Prateek Vats’ ‘Chronicle”. Acclaimed filmmakers Payal Kapadia and Anurag Kashyap have joined forces with Kavita Gupta’s U.S.-based production company Cineroost for Prateek Vats’ upcoming second feature, “Chronicles of a Confession.” Cineroost has boarded the project as producer, taking on global representation and U.S. market duties while helping to push the film into production. Shooting is set to begin in early November.
The collaboration brings together some of India’s most distinctive independent voices—Kapadia, known for her Cannes-winning “All We Imagine as Light,” and Kashyap, a stalwart of Indian indie cinema—with an international production outfit that has championed auteur-driven storytelling. For Vats, whose debut “Eeb Allay Ooo!” earned critical acclaim, this backing signals a significant step forward in scale and reach. The film’s themes remain under wraps, but the pedigree of its producers suggests a bold, socially resonant narrative.
