Content overview: “Professor X Named This X-Men Hero 'The Best of Us' — and It's Not Who You Think”. In the long history of Marvel's X-Men, Charles Xavier has led countless mutants, but he has only ever bestowed the title 'the best of us' upon one hero. The honor goes to Nightcrawler, the swashbuckling teleporter with a heart as big as his faith. This rare praise from Professor X isn't just a passing comment;
it underscores Nightcrawler's unique role as the moral compass of the team, a mutant who embodies Xavier's dream of peaceful coexistence more purely than almost anyone else. While heavyweights like Cyclops, Storm, and Wolverine often take center stage, Nightcrawler's unwavering optimism and compassion have repeatedly saved the X-Men from despair, making him the soul of the franchise.
