“Rob Baxter Backs Henry Slade After Missed Kicks in Exeter's Loss at Bath” — what this page in the network covers. Exeter Chiefs director of rugby Rob Baxter has backed Henry Slade to bounce back after the England centre's missed kicks proved costly in a narrow defeat at Bath. Slade, who has been in fine form this season, was off target with several attempts at the Rec as Exeter fell short in a tightly contested Premiership clash. Baxter was quick to defend his playmaker, insisting that Slade's overall contribution should not be overshadowed by a difficult day from the tee.
The Chiefs boss pointed to Slade's work in open play and his leadership on the field, emphasising that even the best kickers have off days. With Exeter pushing for a top-four finish, Baxter's public show of faith is a clear message that Slade remains central to their ambitions.
