Content overview: “Schemata Architects Restores Linden House Guesthouse in Ireland's Dromgarriff Rainforest”. Japanese studio Schemata Architects has completed the renovation of Linden House, a guesthouse located within the protected Dromgarriff Rainforest in Glengarriff, Ireland. The project involved connecting two existing stone buildings with a new timber- and steel-framed yoga studio, creating a unified retreat that respects the surrounding ancient woodland. This 39-hectare temperate rainforest is one of Ireland's last remaining examples of this rare ecosystem, making the sensitive design approach particularly significant.
The renovation is part of a collection of five guesthouses spread across the estate, offering visitors immersive access to a unique natural environment. By integrating modern structural elements with traditional stonework, Schemata Architects demonstrates how contemporary architecture can enhance heritage sites without compromising ecological integrity.
