Content overview: “Slow Horses Season 6 Finale: Director James Hawes on Jack Lowden's Fate and the Two Altern”. The Season 6 finale of Apple TV+'s acclaimed spy drama 'Slow Horses' delivered a devastating blow, with a major character appearing to die in the closing moments. Director James Hawes revealed that the production filmed two endings for the pivotal scene involving Jack Lowden's character, River Cartwright—one tragic and one happy. The decision to go with the darker outcome sets the stage for a more emotionally complex Season 7, as the already beleaguered Slough House team must grapple with loss.
Hawes explained that the chosen ending felt more true to the series' tone of bureaucratic cynicism and personal sacrifice. With the show already renewed, fans are left wondering how the aftermath will reshape the dynamics at MI5's dumping ground for failed spies.
