Here is what the page “SNL UK's Cynthia Erivo Stars in 'Nigerian Wicked' Sapphic Parody for Elphaba-Glinda Shippe” contains. Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba in the Wicked films, hosted Saturday Night Live UK and delivered a parody sketch titled 'Nigerian Wicked' that reimagines the magical story with Nigerian cultural elements and a sapphic twist between Elphaba and Glinda. The sketch responds to LGBTQ fans who felt the movies lacked the romantic connection they desired between the two witches. Erivo, known for her powerful performances, brings both humor and representation to the sketch, blending Nigerian influences with the familiar characters to create a unique comedic moment.
The parody highlights the ongoing conversation about queer representation in mainstream media and the creative ways fans and creators fill those gaps. By featuring a Black, queer-coded narrative in a major comedy platform, the sketch underscores the demand for diverse storytelling.
