“Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Season 2 Casts Oscar Nominee to Replace Paul Giamatti” — what this page in the network covers. Paul Giamatti will not reprise his role as Nus Braka in the second season of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, the upcoming Paramount+ series set in the Star Trek universe. The Oscar-nominated actor, who recently earned acclaim for The Holdovers, was initially announced for season 1 but scheduling conflicts have led to a recast. Taking over the role is another Academy Award nominee, whose identity has not yet been disclosed by the studio.
The series, which stars Oscar winner Holly Hunter as the academy's chancellor, is set in the 32nd century and focuses on the first new class of Starfleet cadets in over a century. The recasting signals the show's commitment to high-caliber talent as it expands its ensemble for a second season. The full version stays on the original page, which this listing opens directly.
