Architect Lachlan McArdle, director of Lande Architects, presents Hawksburn House, a family residence he personally designed and constructed in Melbourne’s South Yarra. Built on a challenging triangular plot within a quiet cul-de-sac, this home served as a personal experiment in pushing architectural boundaries. The design process involved extensive thought and collaboration, resulting in a refined living space tailored to the unique conditions of the site.
The house exemplifies how careful architectural planning can transform an unconventional location into a practical and aesthetically pleasing home. Every detail was thoughtfully crafted to address the site’s constraints and opportunities, reflecting McArdle’s professional expertise applied to his own family’s needs. Hawksburn House stands as a notable example of how self-built projects can help architects develop and express a distinctive design approach.
