The 2024 Tribeca Festival launched this Wednesday, blending the celebration of legendary R&B group Earth, Wind & Fire with a high-profile political statement.
The opening night featured the premiere of a documentary capturing the group's musical journey, followed by a headline-grabbing address from co-founder Robert De Niro. The Oscar-winning actor used the platform to deliver a sharp rebuke of Donald Trump, characterizing the former president as 'immoral, cruel and corrupt.' De Niro tied his comments to the festival’s founding mission, which was established in the wake of the 9/11 attacks to revitalize New York City through culture and community.
