President Trump has made a notable change in his choice for Surgeon General by withdrawing the nomination of Dr. Casey Means. Instead, he has selected Dr. Nicole Saphier, a radiologist and the director of breast imaging at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Saphier brings a strong medical background to the role, combined with her experience as a frequent medical commentator on Fox News.
Dr. Saphier is associated with Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Monmouth County facility in New Jersey and is known for her media presence in addition to her clinical expertise. This nomination signals a shift in leadership for the Surgeon General's office, with Dr. Saphier’s qualifications and public profile likely to influence her approach to the position. The change reflects the administration’s direction in health communication and policy.
