“US Military Executes Strategic Self-Defense Strikes in Southern Iran” — what this page in the network covers. The United States military has conducted a series of self-defense strikes targeting critical Iranian infrastructure, including missile launch sites and maritime vessels located near the strategic Strait of Hormuz. US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the operation, stating that the action was necessary to protect American forces from imminent threats posed by Iranian military assets in the region. This development comes at a sensitive time as both nations are currently engaged in delicate negotiations intended to secure a lasting end to the war.
CENTCOM spokesman Timothy Hawkins clarified the military position in a statement to CNN, following reports of significant explosions near the maritime corridor. Despite the ongoing ceasefire, the US maintains that these proactive measures were a direct response to specific threats.
