A new art exhibit in San Jose brings attention to the pivotal yet frequently unrecognized roles women have played in advancing modern technology. Centered on stories from the PBS News Hour "CANVAS" series, the display highlights how female innovators were often omitted from official histories despite their critical contributions to computing, engineering, and digital development. Through visual storytelling, the installation reclaims these narratives, emphasizing that technological progress has been shaped by diverse individuals whose efforts have long gone uncredited.
The exhibit serves as both a historical correction and a celebration of underrepresented voices in science and technology. By presenting these stories through artistic expression, it fosters greater public awareness of the full scope of innovation. The project underscores the importance of inclusive documentation, ensuring that future generations recognize the foundational work of women in shaping the digital world we live in today.
