A new free app called ZuckOff is empowering smartphone users to detect when Meta’s Ray-Ban Smart Glasses are recording them, offering a privacy shield in an era of ubiquitous wearable tech. Developed by independent researchers and released on Android, the app leverages real-time signal analysis to identify when the glasses’ microphones or cameras are active—specifically detecting the unique radio frequency patterns emitted during data capture.
The tool has gained traction since its launch, with over 50,000 downloads within the first week, highlighting growing public concern about covert surveillance via smart wearables. While Meta maintains that the glasses only record when activated by voice command or button press, users remain wary of unintended activation or data leaks.
